Hilary and Matthew were married on July 8th, with a ceremony and reception at the Connors Center in Dover, Massachusetts. Hilary and Matt’s love story begins on the other side of the world when the two met while studying abroad in Ghana. Hilary was enchanted by his witty and gentle nature, but at the time wasn’t sure if it was just the African heat getting to her head. When Hilary came home, Matt stayed in Ghana for an exciting internship opportunity. Come the following fall semester at Marist College in Upstate NY, the two were conveniently neighbors. As the summer heat faded and the bright colors of fall covered the Hudson Valley, their friendship continued to blossom and it was clear they were destined for something more. Their first date was going out for Thai food together and they have been together ever since.

We enjoyed our afternoon with the groomsmen before the ceremony as well as time with the ladies getting ready in the parlor. The ladies wore matching robes and while they savored getting ready for the big day ahead with a champagne toast, we captured beautiful detail shots and gorgeous bridal portraits of Hilary in her gown. The guys were also wonderful to work with, we fit right in with their laid back style and truly appreciated documenting this special time they had together.
We loved these beautiful images of Hilary with her adoring grandmother…so sweet:)
Just before the ceremony, at the last minute, we got hit with a thunderstorm out of nowhere that poured on the ceremony site. So, the planners moved everything—the ceremony, the formals, and the cocktail hour—inside until the rain passed. We managed to get the HUGE family formals done in the space we had—and Hilary was thrilled with them.
The reception was behind the estate in a gorgeous tent that had the most beautiful decor. The details and floral arrangements took our breath away, especially the dance floor & chandeliers with a naturally weathered look that accentuated all the fine details.
Hilary and Matthew’s guests spent their evenings enjoying the open-air photo booth provided by Modern Photobooth & Co, taking hilarious pictures together, sharing the photos from their social media kiosk and everyone loved the full-size color prints. Hilary’s father, who owns Gourmet Caterers, kept all the guests well-fed with an exquisite menu including selections from several well-known New England chefs.
The Connors Center is an exceptional venue. The beautiful stone mansion had plenty of places to stage stunning portraits. When the rain finally passed, I was glad we were able to take advantage of some of the gorgeous 80-acre land. The distinctive stone archways, meandering stone paths, and staircases offer a unique backdrop for portraits.
Once the sun went down, there was so much joy in this wedding reception. The parent dances were a very special moment. Not only was it a special celebration of love, but it was also the groom’s birthday! Everyone sang happy birthday to him right on the dance floor. Everyone looked so happy, especially Matthew. His smile lit up his whole face.
